How the Fastmail referral program works

Fastmail pays 10 dollars for each user referred and gives that user 10% off every purchase for a full year. Collecting the reward means joining PartnerStack, and Fastmail generates a Masked Email so the vendor never receives the advocate's real address or name.

01The terms

What the program pays

Referrer gets
USD 10 for every user who signs up through the referral link, paid through PartnerStack
Referred friend gets
10% discount on all purchases for one full year
Qualification
The referred person must sign up through the advocate's unique link. The advocate must join PartnerStack separately to collect rewards; generating the link does not create that account for them. If the link fails, the referred person can raise a support ticket and Fastmail will attach the referrer retrospectively.
02The mechanic

What makes this program different

Masking the advocate from the rewards vendor. Fastmail requires PartnerStack to pay out, then generates a Masked Email address so PartnerStack receives neither the advocate's real email nor their real name. The company applies its own privacy product to the one part of its funnel that would otherwise leak customer identity to a third party.

03The design

Why it works

Using a third-party payout rail without handing it your customer list is a genuine choice, and most companies do not make it.

A year of discount on every purchase rewards the referred user repeatedly rather than once, which suits a subscription bought annually.

Fixing failed attribution through support keeps the referral rather than losing it to a broken link.

Paying a flat 10 dollars keeps the advocate side simple while the friend's side does the persuading.

04The takeaway

What to copy

  • Ask what your referral vendor learns about your customers, and whether it needs to.
  • Give support a route to attach a referrer after the fact. A refused claim over a broken link costs more goodwill than the reward.
  • Discount the referred user across a period, not a single purchase, where renewals are the business.
What we could not verify
  • Fastmail publishes no cap on referrals here. The reward is paid by PartnerStack under its own terms, so the payout conditions and thresholds are set outside Fastmail's page. An earlier Fastmail announcement described the referrer reward as monthly credit across the first year rather than a flat 10 dollars; the current help page states 10 dollars per user, and that is what is recorded here.
05Questions

Fastmail referrals, answered

How much does Fastmail pay for a referral?

10 dollars for every user who signs up through your link. The person referred gets 10% off all purchases for a full year.

Does Fastmail share your details with PartnerStack?

No. Fastmail generates a Masked Email address on your behalf, so PartnerStack receives neither your real email address nor your real name when you obtain a referral link.

What if a Fastmail referral link does not work?

The referred person can raise a support ticket with your username or referral link, and Fastmail's support team will add you as their referrer so both sides still get their reward.
