How the italki referral program works
italki pays the referrer double the friend's reward: $10 in italki Credits against the friend's $5, once the friend signs up through the link and purchases at least $20 of italki Credits. The qualifying event is the wallet top-up, not a lesson, and purchases made with gift cards or coupons do not count toward it.

Here the referrer earns twice as much, and qualification lands on a $20 wallet top-up instead of a booked lesson, so the programme pays on committed spend. The gift-card exclusion closes the loop: the top-up must be new money, not recycled promotional credit.

Qualifying on the top-up captures commitment at the moment money enters the ecosystem, before the first lesson is even scheduled.

Does booking a lesson trigger the italki referral reward?
No. The qualifying event is the friend purchasing $20 or more of italki Credits. Purchases made with gift cards or coupons do not count toward that threshold.
Can the same friend be referred to italki twice?
No. Anyone who has received a referral reward before cannot receive another, and neither can the person who refers them. Self-referrals are also excluded.
