How the Toss referral program works
Toss pays 1,000 Toss Points — about ₩1,000 — to both the inviter and the person they invite. The inviter is capped at 20 rewards, or ₩20,000 in total, but invitations themselves are unlimited and invitees are still paid beyond that cap. Both parties must be 19 or over.

Asymmetric capping. The inviter stops earning after twenty rewards, but the invitee is still paid — so the programme keeps acquiring users long after it has stopped paying its most prolific advocates. Most Western programmes cap both sides together and lose the acquisition with the payout.
Why it works
Capping only the paying side bounds cost without ever turning away a new user.
A 24-hour window to enter the code forces the invitee to act while intent is high.
Excluding previously churned users stops the programme from paying to reacquire people who already left.
What to copy
- Cap the referrer, not the referee. Your acquisition cost is bounded either way, but only one of those choices turns away new users.
- Put a short clock on code entry. It converts far better than an open-ended window.
- Exclude returning churned accounts explicitly, or you will pay twice for the same customer.
