Education Course Share

A template for courses, training and education products where enrolment happens in cohorts. Both sides receive tuition credit, and the reward is released only after the withdrawal or cooling-off period closes — which is when an enrolment actually becomes revenue.

Why this template is shaped this way

Course completion is the natural ask moment: the learner has just received the outcome they paid for, which is exactly when a recommendation is credible.

Tuition credit keeps the reward inside the business and turns a referral into a future enrolment, which matters where customer lifetime is naturally short.

Cohort timing means referrals often arrive months before the next intake — the attribution window has to be long enough to survive that gap.

Where this template goes wrong

Through calendars and liabilities: attribution windows shorter than the intake cycle, withdrawal periods longer than retail returns, and course credit without an expiry accumulating as an obligation nobody planned for.

  • Set the attribution window against your intake calendar, not a default; a 30-day window loses every referral waiting for the next cohort
  • Withdrawal and cooling-off periods vary by jurisdiction and are longer than retail returns
  • Credit that never expires accumulates as a liability — set an expiry and state it
Frequently asked

When should an education referral reward be paid?

After the withdrawal or cooling-off period on the referred enrolment closes. Paying at enrolment means paying for places that are subsequently cancelled at full refund.

How long should the attribution window be for courses?

Long enough to cover the gap to your next intake. Where cohorts run quarterly, a 30-day window discards most genuine referrals simply because the referred learner had to wait.
