How the Airtable referral program works

Airtable pays $10 in credit for every person you refer, and publishes nothing for the person invited. The credit only reaches Free and Team accounts: Business and Enterprise Scale can neither earn it nor spend it. On a Free plan it expires after 90 days unless the account upgrades.

01The terms

What the program pays

Referrer gets
$10 in credit per person referred
Qualification
The invited person must accept the invitation, verify their email address, not already hold an Airtable account, and not have previously accepted another invitation for credits.
Cap
No cap published
Expiry
Credits earned on a Free plan expire after 90 days unless the plan is upgraded to Team. Team plan credits expire one year after they are received, or when the account is cancelled, whichever comes first.
02The mechanic

What makes this program different

Excluding the customers the referral is worth most from. Business and Enterprise Scale accounts cannot earn or spend referral credits, so the mechanic runs only where the credit offsets a small bill or converts a free account into a paying one. The reward is currency that never leaves Airtable.

03The design

Why it works

Credit costs Airtable its margin, not $10, and it is only redeemable against a future Airtable bill.

Restricting it to Free and Team plans points the incentive at the conversion the company wants, which is a free account becoming a paid one.

The 90-day expiry on Free plans turns the reward into a deadline: use it by upgrading, or lose it.

04The takeaway

What to copy

  • Pay in a currency that can only be spent with you, and the reward's cost is your margin rather than its face value.
  • Gate eligibility to the plan tier where a referral changes the outcome, instead of paying it everywhere.
  • An expiry that resolves by upgrading is a deadline dressed as a reward.
What we could not verify
  • Airtable publishes no cap on referral credits anywhere in this documentation, so whether one exists is unknown rather than confirmed absent. It also publishes no reward for the person invited, which several widely-copied roundups state as 100 credits; that figure is not in Airtable's own documentation.
05Questions

Airtable referrals, answered

What does the person you invite get from Airtable?

Nothing that Airtable publishes. Its documentation states the referrer receives $10 in credit and describes no reward for the person invited, which makes this a one-sided programme.

Can any Airtable plan earn referral credits?

No. Only Free and Team accounts earn them. Business and Enterprise Scale accounts can neither earn nor spend referral credits.

Do Airtable referral credits expire?

Yes. On a Free plan they expire after 90 days unless the account upgrades to Team. On Team they last a year from the date received, or until the account is cancelled.
