How the Questrade referral program works
Questrade gives 50 dollars to each side when a referred friend opens a self-directed or Questwealth Portfolios account using the code. A referrer with at least one active account may refer up to 30 new people a year, and the reward arrives within about a month.

Why it works
Paying on account opening is the shortest possible path from referral to reward, which is what advocates actually feel.
Thirty a year is generous enough to be worth working at and low enough to bound the cost.
Requiring no existing application, not merely no account, closes the case of someone already partway through signing up.
Equal amounts make the offer repeatable without explanation.

- Consider whether you really need a funding condition. It slows the reward and every delay costs advocates.
