How the Shopee referral program works
Shopee no longer runs a consumer refer-a-friend programme. The help articles describing it in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines are all soft-404s — they return HTTP 200 but contain no content. What replaced it is an affiliate new-user bonus: in Malaysia, RM10 per new buyer from 1 February 2026.

The retirement itself. Shopee moved consumer referral into its affiliate programme, which converts an unstructured peer mechanic into a managed channel with commission rates, caps and reporting — and removes it from the consumer help centre entirely.
Why it works
Folding referral into affiliate gives one measurement framework instead of two overlapping ones.
Affiliate terms can be varied per partner, which flat consumer referral terms cannot.
Restricting to first orders within 14 days keeps the acquisition claim tight.
What to copy
- If your referral and affiliate programmes overlap, consolidating is a legitimate answer — but retire the old one visibly.
- Shopee left the old help articles returning HTTP 200 with empty bodies, which is the worst of both worlds: they still rank, and they say nothing.
- Shopee returns HTTP 200 for pages that do not exist, so a resolving URL proves nothing on this domain. The retired refer-a-friend articles are ~10KB empty shells against ~48KB for a real article. Any Shopee Coins referral figure circulating is from coupon sites, never from Shopee.
